Thanks to the Generosity of Whitehorse Motors The Whitehorse Food Bank Has a new Transit van to use for the important work we do. Their generosity even extended to include a three year maintenance package, providing the Food Bank with worry free transportation. And another big surprise was a supply of turkeys and $600.00 from their December Promotion. Thanks Whitehorse Motors for helping us help the community!

The Whitehorse Fire Fighters Association not only stands on guard for the citizens of Whitehorse but they have extended their helping hands to the Whitehorse Food Bank this year. Hunger Awareness Week, Students Help Make a Difference

On Thursday and Friday May 8 & 9 students from Vanier, FH Collins, Porter Creek Secondary, Whitehorse Elementary and École Émilie-Tremblay greeted residents on Main Street. They offered and Apple as “food for thought” to raise awareness of hunger issues we are facing here in Yukon. The Food Bank Society of Whitehorse will receive a one-time $750,000 grant from the Yukon government to assist with the purchase of its current home at 306 Alexander Street. The building and lot are currently owned by the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY). When the AFY decided to sell the property it offered the food bank an opportunity to purchase. The Yukon Brewing annual fundraising event for the Food Bank brought hundreds of people to their 15 year birthday celebration and raised over $4,200 along with over 20 crates of food.  Many thanks to Bob, Jasmine and all the folks who helped out.

The Whitehorse Baptist Church’s “Stuff the Bus” was again very successful this year.  On September 22, volunteers received donations of food from the shoppers outside of Superstore and filled the bus to the ceiling.  Thanks so much to all the folks who helped out!!

School Food Drive the Best Yet!!

On October 3, students, teachers, parents and citizens helped deliver hundreds of bags of groceries during the annual food drive formerly put on by the city’s Catholic schools. This year, other schools were invited to participate, and the result was wonderful.  The Whitehorse Food Bank shelves are full!!  Many thanks to Mark Connell and his organizing team.
